Bio

Wei-Qi Wei is an associate professor with tenure in biomedical informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) who specializes in high throughput phenotyping for large-scale discovery using electronic health records (EHRs). He leads the Phenotyping core of the Vanderbilt Integrated Center of Excellence in Maternal and Pediatric Precision Therapeutics (VICE-MPRINT). He chairs the eMERGE phenotyping workgroup and serves as the Precision Phenotyping Core director at VUMC. His research focuses on creating and leveraging informatics tools (e.g., PheMAP and Phecode), including machine learning, natural language processing, and ontology techniques to harvest knowledge from big clinical/genetic data to advance precision medicine.
